Allentown, Pa. – The top ranked Robert Morris Men's Bowling team won both the Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Classic and the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Classic championships while on their annual East Coast trip this past week. The Eagles have won all ten tournaments that they have competed in thus far this season and are rated #1 in the first Coaches' Poll of the season, receiving all 18 first place votes from the panel.
The Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Classic was comprised of 37 teams and 296 individual bowlers and was held on Thursday, December 27th and Friday, December 28th. The Eagles won the tournament in a landslide by 490 pins ahead of second place Notre Dame College. William Patterson University finished in third place and Ohio State University came in fourth.
RMU sophomore Marshall Kent won the tournament with an average of 229.4 and senior Jacob Kent finished in second averaging 226, with both bowlers earning All-Tournament honors. Also bowling well for the Eagles were freshman Kyle King (11th) and sophomore Cameron Weier (22nd).
The Eagles competed in their second tournament of the trip on Saturday, December 29th and Sunday, December 30th, winning the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Classic by 228 pins. The tournament was comprised of 41 teams and 328 bowlers and Morehead State University finished in second place while Davenport University came in third place and Notre Dame College was fourth.
Marshall Kent took home his second individual title in as many tournaments, averaging 225.4 and earning All-Tournament selection once again. Also bowling well was Kyle King in eighth place, sophomore Matt Gasn in 12th place, and Jacob Kent in 31st place.
Robert Morris hosts their annual home tournament on Saturday, January 12th and Sunday, January 13th at Stardust Bowl in Addison, Illinois. On Saturday, bowling begins at 11:30 A.M. and will end at approximately 5:30 P.M. On Sunday, action starts at 8:30 A.M. and will finish at approximately 3:30 P.M.
