The Robert Morris Illinois Women's Volleyball team defeats Trinity International University in four sets (17-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-15) Tuesday October 3rd.

In the first set both teams were tied at 10 when TIU was able to go on a 6-1 run to take a 16-11 lead.  Kailyn Williams (FR/Wheaton, Ill.) was able to get back to back kills to bring RMU within 13-17, but TIU was able to finish the set off 25-17. 

RMU was down 7-4 in the second set, when a kill by DaNesha Cowley (JR/Waterloo, Iowa) started a 6-0 run on Kameron Rouse (SO/Chicago, Ill.)'s serve, finished by a Hannah Wagner (JR/Lapeer, Mich.) kill taking a 10-7 lead and forcing a TIU timeout.  At 15-13, a kill by Jazmin Pruitt (SR/Bellwood, Ill.) sparked a 7-0 run, with Hannah Wagner serving.  Kills by Kristin Acciavatti (SR/Wheaton, Ill.) and Kailyn Williams helped extend the lead to 22-13.  An ace by Wendy Garcia (SR/San Diego, Calif.) won the second set 25-16. 

Third set, RMU jumped out to a quick 11-5 lead with two Kierra Rouse (FR/Chicago, Ill.) aces.  TIU closed the gap at 15-13 but RMU was able to finish the set on a 10-4 run, capped off by a set winning kill from Kailyn Williams to take a 2-1 sets lead. 

In fourth set, TIU hung tough tied at 7 but RMU was able to build a 15-11 lead with kills from Hannah Wagner, Kailyn Williams, Kristin Acciavatti, and Jazmin Pruitt.  Aided by TIU errors, RMU built a 20-12 lead.  On match point, Jazmin Pruitt was able to finish the match with a kill off of Grace Konovodoff (JR/Sugar Grove, Ill.), finished the set winning 25-15 and the match three sets to one. 

Kailyn Williams had a match-high 16 kills and hit .500.  Kristin Acciavatti and Hannah Wagner each had 11 kills, Jazmin Pruitt chipped in 7 kills and also hitting .500.  Lindsey Veersma (JR/Stanwood, Mich.) had 19 assists and Grace Konovodoff put up a double-double with 18 assists and 10 digs.  Kierra Rouse had 4 aces.  Wendy Garcia had a match-high 12 digs. 

RMU improves to 6-8 overall and 2-4 in CCAC action. 

RMU travels to Governors State University for a CCAC Crossover weekend where they will face Trinity Christian College on Friday October 6th, and Olivet Nazarene and Governors State on Saturday October 7th.
