Robert Morris Illinois Football team traveled to NCAA Division II Quincy University on Saturday September 30th but fell 31-17, as the Eagles are now 1-5 overall.

RMU defense forced a three-n-out to start the game.  RMU attacked Quincy on the ground with Darius Burse (JR/Chicago, Ill.) and Edward Clark (FR/Danville, Ill.) slashing thru the defense setting up RMU in Quincy territory before a failed fourth and three attempt turned over the ball.  Eagles got the ball back and got down to the Quincy 35 yard line before a Kenyatte Allen (SR/Lithonia, Ga.) interception ended the drive. 

Quincy would take advantage of the turnover, on the first play breaking an 80-yard touchdown run to take a 7-0 lead with 14:39 left in the second quarter.  Both teams would trade punts, and the RMU defense was able to force a missed field goal to keep the score 7-0 with just under five minutes before half. 

The Eagles offense would attempt to tie the game up before half, but a fumble by Darius Burse gave Quincy great field position with two minutes left before halftime.  Quincy was able to kick 36-yard field goal as time expired taking a 10-0 lead to half. 

RMU got the ball to start the third quarter and continued to run the ball effectively with Darius Burse and Edward ClarkDarius Burse was able to rip off a 13 and 11 yard run setting up first and goal.  RMU would be forced to settle for a field goal from Trentan Daley (SO/Edwardsville, Ill.) cutting the lead to 10-3.  RMU went 14 plays, 77 yards, in 8:50.

RMU forced another three-n-out to get the ball back.  RMU was able to get one first down then forced to punt.  Quincy's return was all the way down to the RMU 14 yard line.  Quincy would score on a 14 yard rush to extend the lead to 17-3 with 46 seconds left in the third quarter. 

RMU would answer with Kenyatte Allen connecting with Mike Moss (FR/Chicago, Ill.) on a 14 yard completion.  Darius burse would rip off a 26 yard rush, then Edward Clark would punch it in from 4 yards out to bring the Eagles to within 17-10 with 7:22 to go.

RMU defense would force a fumble on the first play setting up the Eagles offense at the Quincy 23 yard line.  Darius Burse would then rush for 21 yards, then punch it in from 2 yards out to tie the game up at 17 with 6:40 to go in the game.

Quincy would respond taking 4:56 off the clock, scoring on a 4 yard touchdown run to take a 24-17 lead with 1:39 to go in the game.  

RMU needing a touchdown to tie, Kenyatte Allen's pass was intercepted by Quincy.  Quincy would break a 57-yard touchdown run getting an insurance score, extending the lead to 31-17 with 42 seconds left. 

Kenyatte Allen would complete pass to Kevin Batt (JR/Florrisant, Mo.) for 16 yards, and Jalen Smith (SR/Muskegon, Mich.) for 15 yards, before throwing his third interception of the game in the end zone. 

RMU would fall 31-17 on the afternoon, falling to 1-5 overall. 

Darius Burse led the offense rushing for 186 yards on 28 carries and a touchdown.  Edward Clark rushed for 47 yards on 9 carries and a touchdown.  Kenyatte Allen finished 13-27 for 160 yards and 3 INT's.  Kevin Batt led receivers with 4 catches for 55 yards.  Mike Moss chipped in 3 catches for 38 yards and Jalen Smith had 3 catches and 37 yards. 

Kenny Kirkland (SO/Minooka, Ill.) led the defense with 8 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and half a sack.  Keyon Lansdown (JR/Chicago, Ill.) had 6 tackles, while Chris Rocha (JR/Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) had three tackles and a sack.  Rydon Call recovered a fumble. 

 The Eagles will be back in action on Homecoming Saturday October 14th versus Olivet Nazarene with kickoff at 7:00pm at Morris Field. Fans can watch and listen to the game live on the Eagles Sports Network.
