Women's Volleyball-CH - Wed, Sep. 13, 2017

Volleyball falls to Saint Xavier in straight sets (12-25, 14-25, 16-25) on Tuesday September 12th in thier CCAC Home Opener. 

In the first set, RMU hung tough tying the set up at nine after a ball handling error on SXU.  A kill by DaNesha Cowley (JR/Waterloo, Iowa) brought the score to 10-11.  SXU was able to take control and finish on a 14-2 run to win the set 25-12. 

In the second set, SXU jumped out to a 8-4 lead.  RMU responded with kills by Hannah Wagner (JR/Lapeer, Mich.), Kailyn Williams (FR/Wheaton, Ill.), and Wendy Garcia (SR/San Diego, Calif.) to make the score 8-12.  SXU would pull away after that finishing on a 13-6 run to win set two 25-14.  

In the third set, RMU jumped out to a 4-1 lead.  SXU would respond with a 9-1 run to take a 10-5 lead.  A kill by Kristin Acciavatti (SR/Wheaton, Ill.) ended the run.  RMU would never get back within five, SXU took the third set 25-16. 

Eagles were led by Kristin Acciavatti's five kills, Lindsey Veersma (JR/Stanwood, Mich.) had 12 assists and 9 digs, and Wendy Garcia finished the match with 10 digs.   

The Eagles play at home again next Tuesday September 19th at 7:00PM against Cardinal Stritch University.
