Volleyball wins CCAC conference opener in a back forth five set thriller 3-2 (25-20,22-25,25-23,17-25,18-16) to improve to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in CCAC. 

The teams went back and forth in the first set until Hannah Wagner (JR/Lapeer, Mich.) went back to serve down 18-20, going on a 7-0 run to finish out the set 25-20, led by three of Kailyn Williams (FR/Wheaton, Ill.) 14 kills on the night. 

The second set, Roosevelt was able to get a quick start up 14-5.  RMU was able to fight and claw all the way back to 22-24 before a Roosevelt kill ended the set 22-25. 

The third set, was back and forth with 13 ties in the set.  RMU was down 18-21 with Kristin Acciavatti (SR/Wheaton, Ill.) put down two of her match-high 19 kills to tie the set at 21.  With the score tied at 22, Kristin Acciavatti had back to back aces to build a 24-22 lead.  A kill by Hannah Wagner clinched the set for the Eagles 25-23. 

The fourth set, Roosevelt was able to build another early lead 12-7.  Three Roosevelt errors brought RMU within three at 10-13, before Roosevelt was able build the lead back to seven at 20-13.  A Roosevelt kill sent the match to fifth set 17-25.

The fifth set, RMU built a 11-7 lead following a Kristin Acciavatti kill.  A kill by Hannah Wagner gave the Eagles match point up 14-10.  Roosevelt would answer going a four point run to tie the set up at 14.  With the score tied at 16, Kailyn Williams came up with a big kill.  On match point Lindsey Veersma (JR/Stanwood, Mich.) served up an ace to win the set 18-16 and match 3-2. 

Kristin Acciavatti led the Eagles with another double-double a match-high 19 kills, 11 digs, and 3 aces.  Kailyn Williams with 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .429.  Hannah Wagner was also in double digits with 11 kills and 7 digs.  Lindsey Veersma dished out 47 assists, 12 digs, and two aces. Eagles improved to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in CCAC.

The Eagles next match is at 7:00 PM against CCAC foe Saint Xavier Tuesday September 12th
