The Robert Morris Illinois Men's Soccer team and Coach Patryk Seppelt-Gorajewski got their first win of 2017 4-1 over Clarke (Iowa) Thursday September 7th at Morris Field. 

The Eagles looked for their first win of the season.  In the 29th minute David Aniol (SO/Park Ridge, Ill.) was able to give RMU its first lead of the season, blasting a shot off a cross by Voislov Illic to take a 1-0 lead.  Just two minutes later, Alejandro Gomez (SR/Chicago, Ill.) rebounded his own shot that was saved and snuck it by the keeper the second time for his first goal of the season extending the lead to 2-0.  Just before halftime in the 45th minute, Geraldo Flores (SO/Bridgeview, Ill.) headed in a beautiful cross from Giovanni Marquez (JR/Belvidere, Ill.) sending RMU to half leading Clarke 3-0.

As the second half started Clarke got a free kick just outside the box, but Christian Brunet (JR/Hunstville, Ontario) was able to come up with save keeping the score 3-0.  RMU continued to put pressure on the Pride but unable to capitalize.  Clarke was able to get on the scoreboard on shot by Emi Gomez from 32 yards out in upper corner to make the score 3-1.  In the 73rd minute Alan Santana (SR/Hoffman Estates, Ill) took a shot from the top of the box that Clarke was able to barely tap the ball over the crossbar to keep the score 3-1.  In the 80th minute Emi Gomez took the free kick but Christian Brunet was up for the challenge making the save.  In the 88th minute Alan Santana headed in his second goal of the season off a cross from Jonathan Schneider (JR/Miami, Fla.) to ice the game 4-1.  RMU gets their first win of 2017 4-1 over Clarke.

RMU outshot Clarke 18-9, 11-3 shots on goal advantage for the Eagles.  RMU had 8 corners, Clarke zero.  Alejandro Gomez led the way with five shots, two on goal, and his first goal of the season.  David Aniol had three shots, two on goal, and his first goal of season.  Geraldo Flores had two shots, both on goal with his header finding the net for his first goal of the season.  Voislov Illic and Giovanni Marquez each had an assist. Christian Brunet made two saves.  

The Eagles next match is the CCAC opener and Polish Night, Tuesday September 19th at 7pm against Roosevelt University at Morris Field in Arlington Heights, Ill.
