Men's Soccer-CH - Thu, Aug. 31, 2017

The Robert Morris Illinois Men's Soccer team fell to Madonna University (Mich.) 3-0 in 2017 home opener on Thursday August 31st at Morris Field. 

The Eagles looked for their first win of the season in the home opener.  Dominating play for the first five minutes but no luck getting on the scoreboard.  In the 23rd minute Adrian Wonorowski (FR/Addison, Ill.) was whistled for a foul in the box giving Madonna a penalty kick.  Hector Morales was able to get it by Christian Brunet (JR/Hunstville, Ontario) to put Madonna up 1-0.  In the 32nd minute Alejandro Gomez (SR/Chicago, Ill.) found himself with a chance that was sent just wide left off the post.  RMU trailed Madonna 1-0 heading to half.

As the second half started Madonna crossed a ball in the 50th minute headed in by Kazuya Odawara to push the lead to 2-0.  Maximilian Never (JR/Munich, Germany) put a header on net off of a corner kick in the 51st minute saved by Joe Smith.   In the 66th minute Yuri Farkas was able to slide one in to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the 68th minute Maximilian Never forced another save by Joe Smith, and again in the 70th minute keeping the score 3-0, and RMU falls to the Crusaders 3-0 in the home opener.

RMU outshot Madonna 15-12 with three of those on net with all three coming from Maximilian NeverAlejandro Gomez and Geraldo Flores (SO/Bridgeview, Ill.) each had three shots on the night.  Madonna put seven shots on net with Christian Brunet making 4 saves. 

The Eagles are back in action Thursday September 7th at 5pm against Clarke University (Iowa) at Morris Field in Arlington Heights, Ill.
