Women's Volleyball-CH - Mon, Aug. 21, 2017

Volleyball fell in two tough matches on Day 2 of the Forrester Invitational at Huntington University in Huntington, Ind. on Saturday August 19th losing in five sets (12-25, 21-25, 27-25, 25-14, 14-16) to Brescia (Ky.) and then in straight sets (20-25, 23-25, 15-25) to Grace College (Ind.).  The Eagles fall to 0-4 on the season. 

Match One

The Eagles fell behind Brecisa (Ky.) two sets to zero but the Eagles clawed there way back winning a tight thrid set 27-25 and forcing a fifth set winning the fourth set 25-14.  The Eagles continued their momentum in the fifth set but fell in a thriller 16-14. 

Hannah Wagner (JR/Lapeer, Mich.) led the Eagles offensively with 14 kills and 2 block assists.  Lindsey Veersma (JR/Stanwood, Mich.) posted her first double double of the season with 28 assists and 14 digs, while Kierra Rouse (FR/Chicago, Ill.) posted a double double herself with 20 assists and 12 digs while adding 2 aces from the service line.  Wendy Garcia (SR/San Diego, Calif.) had a team-high 25 digs and 2 aces, while Kristin Acciavatti (SR/Wheaton, Ill.) added 13 kills, Kailyn Williams (FR/Wheaton, Ill.) 10 kills, DaNesha Cowley (JR/Waterloo, Iowa) and Sam McArthur (JR/Anaheim Hills, Calif.) had 9 kills in the loss.

Match Two

The Eagles then faced Grace College (Ind.) dropping the first set 20-25 but continued to fight in the second set falling 23-25.  In the thrid set hoping for a repeat of the morning match coming back to force five sets fell short falling 15-25 in the third set.  RMU fell to 0-2 overall on the day and 0-4 on the season. 

Hannah Wagner and Kailyn Williams each had a team-high 7 kills while Kierra Rouse dished out a team-high 9 assists, and Lindsey Veersma had 8 assists.  Wendy Garcia posted a team-high 14 digs in the loss.

The Eagles will host the 2017 Eagle Invite Friday August 25th and Saturday August 26th at the Robert Morris University Athletic and Convocation Center.  The home opener is at 1:00 PM against Midway University follwed by 5:00 PM match vs Culver-Stockton College.  On Saturday August 26th the Eagles will host Rochester College at Noon and Moody Bible at 4pm.
