Men's Hockey Maroon-CH - Thu, Aug. 3, 2017

2016 RMU alum Andy Poetzinger has been named to be the assistant coach for the Maroon Hockey Team. Poetzinger will assist head coach Billy Karr, for whom he played during his career.

Poetzinger, who graduated with a degree in Business Administration, was one of the most honored goalies ever to play for the Eagles. He played on the D3 White team for 3 years, during which time he was named to the D3 First and Second All Star Teams, and represented the US in the ACHA World Team Tournament in Germany. During his 4th and final year at RMU, he played for the Maroon team where he was named the D3 Silver Division Goalie of the Year and as the All Conference First Team goalie.

Last year, Poetzinger also spent time in the play-by-play booth on the Eagle Sports Network describing RMU hockey.

"Andy was exactly what we want out of our student-athletes during his time with us," said Coach Karr. "The passion and excellence he brought with him on the ice and in the classroom make him eminently qualified to step into coaching."
