ELGIN, Ill. – The sixth seeded Robert Morris Illinois Baseball team lost to second seeded Olivet Nazarene University by the score of 4-2 to be eliminated from the CCAC Conference Tournament and have its season come to an end on Saturday, May 6th at Judson University.  The Eagles ended the 2017 season with an overall record of 26-27.

The game started off on a good note for the Eagles with Corey Krupske (JR/Tinley Park, Ill.) leading off the contest with a triple to right center and scoring on a Jimmy Smyth (FR/Oak Forest, Ill.) ground out for a 1-0 lead.  However, the Tigers scored three runs in the second inning with the help of two RMU errors on three hits to take a 3-1 advantage.

Another RMU error in the fifth inning enabled an Olivet Nazarene run to score to up its lead to 4-1.  The Eagles then loaded the bases in the sixth inning on a Smyth walk, a Chase Armstrong (SR/Lexington, Ky.) base hit, and a single by Jalen Cox (JR/Sturgis, Mich.).  Matt Vitulli (SR/Bartlett, Ill.) drove in Smyth with a base hit to left field to cut the deficit to 4-2, but RMU was unable to get any other runs across after a double play ended the threat.

Eric Ryan (JR/New Lenox, Ill.) pitched all eight innings and took the loss to end the year with a 4-3 record.  The junior allowed all four runs, with only one being earned, on nine hits, while striking out eight and walking one.

The loss not only ended the Eagles' season, but it also ended the collegiate careers of RMU's 14 seniors.  The 2017 Eagles' senior class of Chase Armstrong, Kyle Crawford (SR/Frankfort, Ill.), Brian Czyl (SR/Lisle, Ill.), Noble Hampton (SR/St. Louis, Mo.), Brandon Hrobowski (SR/Matteson, Ill.), Liam Kellogg (SR/Milwaukee, Wis.), Efrain Leon (JR/Chicago, Ill.), Jose Pichardo-Eve (SR/Lowell, Mass.), Cory Renois (SR/Belleville, Ill. ), Johnathan Smith (SR/Plainfield, Ill.), Ricky Vargas (SR/Oak Forest, Ill.), Matt Vitulli, Alex Wurm (SR/Appleton, Wis.), and Ian Zimmerman (SR/Belleville, Ill.) in pictured below.
