ELGIN, Ill. – The Robert Morris Illinois Baseball team lost to CCAC Conference North Division leader Judson University by the score of 7-4 on Saturday, April 29th in Elgin, Illinois.  The Eagles are now 15-11 in the CCAC and 26-24 overall this season.

The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Matt Cole (JR/Richton Park, Ill.) doubled to right center to score Jimmy Smyth (FR/Oak Forest, Ill.), who was hit by a pitch earlier in the inning.  RMU added two runs to its lead in the second inning with Smyth hitting a two-run double to bring in Alex Wurm (SR/Appleton, Wis.) and Jeff Worsech (JR/Lemont, Ill.) for a 3-0 lead.

Judson came back with four runs on four hits in the top of the third inning off of RMU starter Eric Ryan (JR/New Lenox, Ill.) to take a 4-3 lead and scored three more runs in the sixth inning to push its advantage to 7-3.  RMU got a run back in the bottom of the sixth with Cam Bass (JR/Chicago, Ill.) scoring on a Brian Czyl (SR/Lisle, Ill.) base hit, but the Eagles could not score any more runs and lost the game 7-4.

Jimmy Smyth was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored, while Matt Cole also went 2-for-3 with a run batted in.  Eric Ryan took the loss to fall to 4-2 on the year, pitching 5 1/3 innings and allowing six earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Game two of the day was rained out and will be played at 6pm on Monday, May 1st at Memorial Field in Bensenville, Illinois.  If Memorial Field is unplayable, the game will be moved to Judson University with the same game time and fans can follow the game live on the Eagle Sports Network.
