ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Robert Morris Illinois Women's Basketball team won its second straight game with an 80-75 victory over Saint Ambrose University in CCAC Conference play on Saturday, February 11th at the RMU Athletic & Convocation Center.  The Eagles are now 7-11 in the CCAC and 9-19 overall this season.

The Eagles opened the contest by taking a 9-3 lead on four points by Jannah Mahmoud (JR/Oak Lawn, Ill.) and a three-pointer by Donisha Anderson (SR/Chicago, Ill.).  However, the Fighting Bees came back to take a 12-11 lead with 5:01 to go in the first quarter, but RMU scored the next eight points and led 23-20 at the end of the period.

Saint Ambrose regained the lead to begin the second quarter, but the Eagles battled back to take a 33-26 lead with 4:10 remaining in the first half.  The Fighting Bees once again cut into the RMU advantage, trailing 37-36 with 1:27 to go, but the Eagles took a 39-36 margin to the locker room after Mariah Middleton (JR/Chicago Heights, Ill.) connected on a jumper.

RMU owned most of the third quarter and pushed its lead to double digits late in the quarter.  The Eagles led 60-47 with 35 seconds to go before Saint Ambrose cut the margin to 60-49 with 17 seconds remaining.  However, Anika Johnson (FR/Chicago, Ill.) hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give RMU a 63-49 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The Fighting Bees did not give up and pulled to within 65-61 with 6:55 left in the game and made a big push in the final minutes.  With RMU up 75-69 with 1:22 to go, Saint Ambrose closed to within 76-75 with 31 seconds to go, but the Eagles were clutch in their free throw shooting down the stretch with Anderson and Mahmoud both knocking down a pair from the charity stripe to seal the win.

Jannah Mahmoud remained red hot, scoring 29 points to go with 11 rebounds and four blocks, while Victoria Harris (SR/Bellwood, Ill.) added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Donisha Anderson had a strong effort as well, with 12 points, seven assists, and four blocks in the victory.

The Eagles travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Wednesday, February 15th for a CCAC Conference match up with 16th ranked Cardinal Stritch University.  Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm and fans can listen to the game live on the Eagle Sports Network
