ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Robert Morris Illinois Women's Basketball team defeated South Loop rival Roosevelt University by the score of 73-65 to earn its first CCAC Conference victory of the year on Tuesday, January 3rd at the RMU Athletic & Convocation Center.  The Eagles are now 1-5 in the CCAC and 3-13 overall this season.

The game was back and forth in the early going of the opening quarter, but the Lakers broke a 12-12 tie with a 9-3 run to lead 21-15 heading into the second quarter.  RMU was not able to close the gap in the final 10 minutes of the first half and trailed 35-26 at half-time.

The Eagles started to get things going in the third quarter behind the hot three-point shooting by Amber Jennings (JR/Oldsmar, Fla.), tying things up at 42-42 with 3:55 to go in the stanza and trailing 51-50 going into the fourth quarter.  Jennings hit another three-pointer to open the fourth to give RMU its first lead since 4:52 to go in the first quarter, and the Eagles pushed their advantage to 63-53 with four minutes to go.  Roosevelt made a late run to cut the RMU margin to 65-62 with 1:59 to go, but the Eagles scored the next six points to open a 71-62 lead with 17 seconds remaining and closed out the 73-65 conference win.

Victoria Harris (SR/Bellwood, Ill.) led the Eagles with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Jannah Mahmoud (JR/Oak Lawn, Ill.) registered a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 19 rebounds and Amber Jennings scored 18 points, including five three-pointers in the second half.  Donisha Anderson (SR/Chicago, Ill.) chipped in with 10 points and seven assists, and Aaliyah Irby (SR/Chicago, Ill.) grabbed 11 rebounds in the victory.

RMU travels to Davenport, Iowa on Thursday, January 5th to take on Saint Ambrose University in another CCAC Conference contest.  Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm and fans can listen to the game live on the Eagle Sports Network.
