The Eagles bested their previous high final rating of 20th in 2014!
Football-CH - Fri, Dec. 23, 2016

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the postseason 2016 NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 Poll and Robert Morris Illinois closed out the year ranked 15th in the voting.  This is the highest final rating in the program's history, besting their ranking of 20th in 2014.

The Eagles had a season of program firsts, including their first appearance in the NAIA Football Championships Series and their first Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Midwest League title.  Unfortunately, RMU lost to Marian University (Ind.), the 2015 NAIA National Champion, in the NAIA FCS Opening Round to end the 2016 season.

The University of Saint Francis (Ind.), who the Eagles lost to by the score of 28-21 during the regular season, topped the final poll after winning its first-ever NAIA National Championship with a 38-17 victory over second ranked Baker University (Kan.).  Reinhardt University (Ga.), Eastern Oregon University, and Marian rounded out the top five of the poll.
